Curtains laboratory tested, field proved, Acoustic Curtains and Acoustic Drapes protect you from outside noise, climate and light, providing maximum privacy.

Acoustic Curtains with STC 20 reduce noise by 20 decibels!

Our Acoustical Curtains will reduce reverberation and echo in a large room, as well as reduce interference from outside noise. STC 20 Acoustic Curtains use a powerful sound blocking lining to provide maximum sound protection. Acoustic Curtains can be used to cover windows, doorways and as room dividers.

Acoustic custom made curtains for most residential windows (up to 50″w x 84″h); with your choice of one of fabrics. STC 20 Acoustic Curtains can be made in any width and up to 9’ high. We can also make STC 20 Acoustic Curtains using fabric you provide.

Acoustic Curtains with STC 17  reduce noise by up to 17 decibels!

STC 15 and 17 Acoustic Curtains are especially designed for where fire certification, lightweight and multiple curtain constructions are required such as schools, hotels, and other public venues. STC 15 and 17 Quiet Curtains can be made in any width and up to 18’ high. We can use your fabrics or you can choose from our wide selection of beautiful fabrics. We can also retrofit existing curtain systems. We now offer STC 17 roller shades!

Both our STC and Acoustic Acoustic Curtains can be made in a wide range of constructions including pleated, Ripplefold, flat panel, Roman shades and our new STC 17 roller shades.

Acoustic Curtains work best when hanging in loose folds. Allow for stacking space if you want the curtains to clear a window or door.

By sizing the Acoustic Curtains to completely cover side, top and bottom of the windows, you are minimizing the amount of sound that can get through to the other side. Traverse rods allow the fabric to overlap in the center and wrap around the sides to provide as much coverage as possible. When giving us measurements, provide width and length for each curtain. Add additional stacking space if you need the curtain to clear the window on either side.

LAB TEST RESULTS

A STC rating describes the average number of decibels blocked by a material.

Our STC Sound Blocking curtains work due their inner linings. These linings are specialized, proprietary vinyl’s made exclusively for Quiet Curtains. The face fabrics used to construct the curtains have little impact on sound blocking. See the Table below for recommended face fabrics.

Under normal conditions, the following will serve adequately well as a general guide on the impact of variances in sound pressure levels:

  • 1 dB change is imperceptible
  • 3 dB change is just perceptible
  • 5 dB change is clearly perceptible
  • 10 dB change is substantial (halves or doubles noise heard)

The NRC range is a function of curtain construction. The highest NRC’s are Ripplefold 220% construction. The lowest NRC’s are Ripplefold 160% construction. Pleated curtains fall in the mid-range depending on fullness. Double sided soft-fold curtains perform similarly to Ripplefolds.
